New York motorist allegedly speeding just before tragic accident

New York roads are busy, and not every motorist acts with caution behind the wheel. One driver was allegedly seen speeding recently, moments before a tragic accident occurred. Sadly, the incident resulted in both serious injuries and death.

A man was apparently driving a car that carried his wife and young daughter in the back seat. Allegedly, as he attempted to make a left turn, another vehicle flew through a stop sign traveling in excess of 50 mph. The man’s vehicle was reportedly struck by the speeding car, sending his wife and child through the rear window.

The 9-year-old girl landed between some nearby trees and suffered critical injuries in the collision. Her mother was pinned underneath the tire of the driver’s side of the car. She did not survive her injuries. The child’s father was listed in stable condition.

The car that witnesses say was speeding also seems to have crashed into several other parked cars in the area before coming to a halt. The person driving the car suffered minor injuries. Similar situations in the past have often led to litigation when spouses or other immediate family members have filed wrongful death claims on the behalves of deceased victims.

When a New York accident causes a minor child to suffer injury, a parent or legal guardian may take action in a civil court against any person or persons deemed responsible. Driving at excessive speed is just one of many types of negligence that may serve as grounds for filing injury claims in the aftermaths of motor vehicle collisions. Anyone with questions regarding such claims may seek answers by contacting a personal injury attorney.
