Pain, grief, confusion and many other emotions can often overwhelm individuals who suddenly lose a loved one. A car accident is a common type of incident that leads to fatalities, and many people struggle in the aftermath of such an event. For those individuals, knowing where to start in hopes of moving on can seem like an impossible task.
The family of one woman may be hoping to find their best way to cope after a recent accident in New York. Reports stated that the woman was driving a minivan west when her vehicle was hit from behind by a box truck. It was unclear what may have caused the truck driver to strike the van. Nonetheless, the initial collision caused the minivan to hit multiple other vehicles.
The woman driving the van suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident. She was reported as being 45 years old and had been a professor at the University of Buffalo. The school issued a statement saying that the woman was beloved and talented. Authorities are likely continuing to investigate the incident, and additional information may be available at a later time.
The family of this New York woman may feel overwhelmed by their sudden loss. As they attempt to work through their pain, they may want to determine whether taking civil legal action could be a route they want to pursue. Filing a wrongful death claim against the truck driver could allow them to seek compensation for damages caused by the accident, and speaking with a knowledgeable attorney could help them better understand this option.
