Many people know that staying on the scene of a car crash is important. However, some drivers may choose to flee the scene of an accident and leave many individuals with questions. Hit-and-run accidents often have serious outcomes, and investigations can become difficult when drivers are not at the incident site to answer questions.

One family in New York may be hoping to gain more information after a recent hit-and-run. It was unclear how the incident took place, as a 54-year-old woman was found lying in the street at approximately 12:30 a.m. She was taken from the scene to an area hospital, and she was declared deceased. It appeared as if the woman had been struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle did not remain on the scene, and it was unclear whether authorities had any identifying information. However, the incident was still under investigation. It was noted that two of the woman’s relatives had also been killed in the same location due to car accidents within the last two years.

This type of accident can be difficult for anyone to fathom. When authorities locate the driver considered at fault for this hit-and-run, the woman’s surviving family may wish to take legal action against that individual. Filing a wrongful death claim could allow them to pursue compensation for funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages permitted under New York law. Gaining additional information on this option may help them determine whether they may want to follow this course of action.
