Fall at New York Mets game is sad beginning of baseball season

The baseball season is just beginning. This time of year brings joy to many New Yorkers’ hearts and other fans of the American pastime all around the world. At least for the fans who attended a New York Mets exhibition game in Canada last week, the baseball season started off on a sad note.

During the Friday evening game between the Mets and the Toronto Blue Jays, one fan in particular was trying to ignite excitement among the crowd. Witnesses of the incident say that the man was moving around near the stadium rail, lost control and fell to the ground. Accidents like this can sometimes lead to premises liability claims.

The fall accident isn’t the first of its kind. Other sports spectators have suffered similar accidents and suffered injuries ranging from minor, severe to even fatal. Hospital staff confirms that the newest victim is in critical condition.

Every season begins with the hope that no more fans will be injured during their visit to what is supposed to be a leisurely, fun time. Officials continue to investigate the recent fan’s fall. Trying to prevent accidents at sporting events like this one depends on determining where fault might belong.

Did the guard rails at the stadium meet safety standards? Were they defective? Did the victim make a simple but terrifying mistake? Was he too drunk? If he was impaired, did servers at the stadium serve him alcohol when he was already too intoxicated?
