The friend accidentally stepped on the gas rather than the brake, reversing over the deceased and killing her near instantly, before the vehicle collided with another garage, causing severe damage. The driver, age 83, thereafter slipped into a dementia-like state, due to the trauma, and never recovered himself, dying several months afterward.
