Serious New York accident leads to critical injuries

Sakkas Cahn & Weiss

Many individuals see vehicles traveling too fast on the roadways every day. Some travelers may understandably fear that one of these speeding cars will cause a serious accident that has irreversible consequences. Sadly, this type of incident occurs far too often, and the impacts that the crashes have affect more than just those individuals who were directly involved.

A recent New York collision had tragic results, and it is believed that speed played a role in the crash. Reports stated that the 23-year-old driver of a car was speeding when he attempted to drive around a tractor-trailer that was making a left turn. However, this action was unsuccessful, and the car ended up crushed beneath the trailer of the truck. A 28-year-old passenger was also in the car.

The two individuals in the car had to be rescued by emergency crews. They were both reported as being in critical condition. No other injuries were reported as having occurred due to the crash. Authorities are likely continuing their investigation to determine whether criminal charges may be appropriate.

Due to the severity of this car accident, it is likely that a civil claim could be filed against the driver considered at fault. If the passenger survives his injuries, he could pursue a personal injury claim in order to seek compensation. If he succumbs to those injuries, his family may have the opportunity to file a wrongful death claim on their loved one’s behalf. Information on these legal options in New York may prove useful.
