New York bus driver has right to seek compensation after accident

Vehicles collide on the roads at an alarmingly high rate, and a considerable number of those crashes are severe. After such an accident, the steps those involved choose to take may vary. However, seriously injured parties may have the right to seek justice and restitution for the damages they have suffered as a result of the crash.

A recent incident in New York could lead to a legal claim due to the outcomes. Reports stated that the crash involved a car and a charter bus. The driver of the car did not stay in the right lane, and as a result, the vehicle crashed into the front of the bus, which was traveling the opposite direction. A photo from the scene shows the bus off the road with considerable damage to the front-left side.

The incident resulted in the driver of the car being killed. The individual was reported as being a male, though his age was not disclosed. The woman driving the bus suffered serious injuries. Fortunately, she is expected to survive. It was unclear whether there were any passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.

Because the injured driver was on the job at the time of the accident, she will likely be able to collect workers’ compensation. Additionally, she could file a personal injury claim against the estate of the driver deemed to have been at fault. A successful claim could result in a judgment for monetary damages for physical pain, emotional suffering, medical bills and other damages permitted under New York law.
