Hit-and-run accidents often leave many questions unanswered. One of the main concerns individuals often have relates to the hit-and-run driver not offering aid to injured victims. Unfortunately, this type of accident can lead to serious injuries, and lives could be lost if help does not arrive quickly. Such an incident recently took place in New York.

Reports stated that the collision involved a car and a bicyclist. The bicyclist was traveling east when he was struck by a vehicle at an intersection. The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. The driver of the car did not remain at the scene, but a 911 call alerted police to the event. Authorities later caught up with the vehicle driver, and the 25-year-old individual was taken into custody on multiple charges, including DUI.

The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident. He was transported from the scene to an area hospital where he was declared dead. Reports stated that his age was 32 years old. It was unclear how much time had passed between the initial collision and the time emergency crews arrived at the scene to attend to the victim.

The family of the bicyclist killed in this New York accident will undoubtedly face many difficulties. If they wish to seek compensation and justice for their loss and other damages, they may wish to file a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault. Information on this legal option could help them determine whether pursuing a claim could be in their best interests.
