A driver struck two bicyclists, fatally injuring one, before slamming her vehicle into another car as well as a residence on a recent Wednesday afternoon in June. The accident occurred in Hicksville. A mangled bicycle and a lone helmet were all that were left behind to rest on the pavement after the accident occurred, a New York journalist reported.

The bicyclists — a father and his daughter — were biking along a road when they were struck by a passing SUV, police said. The SUV then struck another car before hitting a brick house and, in the process, taking its front porch down. The daughter, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The male bicyclist, a man in his 70s, was rushed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV, a 57-year-old female, as well as her passenger, a man said to be in his 30s, were also rushed to an area hospital to be treated for superficial injuries. While it is unknown whether it was a contributing factor in the crash, residents of that neighborhood say many drivers speed along that road.

Authorities are unsure as to what caused the SUV to collide with the cyclists, but their investigation has yet to be completed. If the authorities charge the driver in connection with this accident and prosecutors secure a conviction on one of the charges, the victim’s family may offer the conviction as evidence of negligence in any related wrongful death or personal injury claims. They will likely benefit by consulting with an experienced New York personal injury attorney to assist them with this process.
